It is with a very heavy heart that the Laurel Heights Secondary community mourns the loss of Nathan Sibley, in Grade 11, on Monday, December 5th.

Nathan was a kind, hard working young person with a quick wit and great sense of humour who was loved deeply by his family and friends. A competitive gymnast dedicated to his sport, a member of LHSS’s Electric Vehicle Club and Honours Student, Nathan was a highly involved member of his school community.  He will be greatly missed.

Our thoughts are with his parents, older brother and extended family at this time.

Along with our Guidance Counsellors, Social Workers, Child and Youth Workers  and Administrators, members of the Board’s Critical Events Response Team have been consulted to support our students and staff.

In honour of Nathan, the flags at Laurel Heights Secondary School  and the Waterloo Region District School Board will be flown at half mast this week.

Please check in with your child in the days to come. If you have any concerns about your child, please do not hesitate to contact me via email to discuss support.

Sincerely,

Vida Collis

Principal
