Semester 1 Final Exams – January 23rd to 28th, 2026

The WRDSB has divided its 10 exam/evaluation days in a 1-4 day split each semester, as shown on the secondary school year calendar.  The four days occurring at the end of each semester will allow staff to support and administer exams or final evaluation tasks and determine a grade for students. The Assessment and Evaluation Period for the end of Semester 1 will occur from January 23rd to 28th, 2026.  There will be no field trips, WCSSAA games or practices, and no school events for 5 days prior to the end of semester Assessment and Evaluation Days.

  • Exams are being written at all grade levels (new for 2025-2026 school year).
  • Teachers will communicate specific exam details to students, including rooms, etc.
  • We will share a full schedule once available – please check back.
  • Credit Rescue Opportunities:   Some students will be invited to attend on these days in order to complete final demonstrations of expectations in order to earn their credit.
  • Student Attendance – similar to former exam days, attendance will be taken and submitted for scheduled exams or performance tasks, in-person credit rescue, and level-up opportunities.
  • Study Areas:  The Library will be open for those who wish to engage in quiet study.  The cafeteria will also be open for those who need to work collaboratively together.
  • *Creed Accommodation Days: Any students requiring accommodations for a WRDSB noted day of significance should speak with their teacher and have the option to write the exam at the earliest opportunity within the exam schedule.

During any period of the Instructional Support/Exam days, students could be required by their teacher to be present in class to complete forms of evaluation or complete credit rescue opportunities.  For this reason, please do not plan events which require your student to be absent from school on these days.

Semester 2 Startup, Timetables and Course Changes

SEMESTER 2 TIMETABLES:

The LHSS main office plans to email students your updated semester 2 timetables during the week of January 27th.  Please make sure to check your WRDSB email inbox for your schedule (including your spam folder) on January 27th or later to ensure you are reporting to the correct classes when semester 2 starts on Friday, January 30th.

The first day of sem 2 will follow a week 2 schedule (A,B, D, C) and we will switch to week 1 on Monday, February 2nd (A, B, C, D).

COURSE CHANGES REQUESTS:

Students wishing to request any changes to semester 2 courses – as posted to your “Class of” Google classrooms in November, the process has changed from last year.  To help manage so many full classes in second semester, students are required to book an appointment with your counsellor to discuss your change request and complete the necessary form to take home for parent/caregiver approval.  The last day for course change appointments is Friday, January 16th and all forms must be returned to the LHSS guidance office at the start of school on Monday, January 19th.

Counsellors will keep working through received requests and will notify students of the status of any possible changes as soon as possible.  NOTE – course change requests will NOT re-open at the start of semester 2, but guidance staff will continue to address any necessary timetable adjustments for students.

A reminder that Thursday, January 29th is a PD day for all WRDSB secondary schools.
