The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program offers students in Grades 11 & 12 the opportunity to explore a specific community, or economic and/or industrial sector in preparation for post-secondary destinations in one of four pathways: Apprenticeship, College, University or Workplace.

SHSM includes specified, bundled credits, sector-recognized certifications, ‘reach ahead’ activities and participation in a sector-partner experience (SPE), where students work with a community organization using design thinking to solve an authentic problem the organization may face.
Students officially enroll in the SHSM program in Grade 11 (register before the end of October). The program requires a 2-year commitment to complete the 9 credit course requirements (including mandatory 2-credit co-op).
