Why Volunteer?
- It feels good to get involved in your community.
- You meet other people (network).
- You gain new skills and experiences.
- You need 40 hours to graduate from high school.
- Your volunteer experience may help you when applying for jobs, scholarships and/or competitive post-secondary programs (particularly if you complete far more than the required 40 hours).
NEW FOR 2025 – Minister’s Certificate of Recognition for Community Involvement
Starting with the graduating Class of 2026, if students go above and beyond in their volunteer work during high school, they can earn a Minister’s Certificate of Recognition for Community Involvement when they graduate. This new certificate celebrates students’ dedication to helping others and for completing more than 50 volunteer hours during high school. Monitor your CLASS OF Google Classroom for more information!

- Students can submit hours electronically using the appropriate “CLASS OF” Google form available in your Google Classroom (or posted above).
- To help you keep track of your community service, use the Activity Tracking Record – download HERE.
- Make sure you get your community sponsor’s contact info (email and/or phone) prior to submitting your hours via the Google form (required for confirmation).
- Graduating students should submit their hours by May 1st of your graduating year to ensure these are posted well ahead of commencement ceremonies.
