Semester 1 Meet the Teacher Open House – Wed. Oct. 18th (5:30-7:30pm)

Laurel Heights invites our student families to attend our semester 1 open house on Wednesday, October 18th from 5:30 to 7:30pm. You can enjoy an informal “meet and greet” with your student’s teachers as you explore the school!
To help you plan your visit, please check out our OPEN HOUSE STAFF LOCATOR (print copies will be available at the school on Wednesday evening).
In addition to our open house format, we are pleased to offer two additional opportunities for families to connect and learn about supports at Laurel Heights.
LEARNING SERVICES INFORMATION SESSIONS – 5:45pm or 6:15pm (auditorium)
- Focus on how parents can support students’ learning from home
- Emphasis on strategies for grade 9 students, although anyone is welcome to attend either session
PLANNING FOR POST-SECONDARY INFO PRESENTATION – 7:30pm-8:00pm (auditorium)
- Do you have questions about how or where to find information about post-secondary options available to our students?
- Wondering how to support your student as they prepare to apply for university or college?
- Seaching for information on financing post-secondary?
- Please consider joining members of our guidance staff as we address these questions and more during this helpful presentation!

Scare Hunger Food Drive – Oct. 16th to 30th

We are excited to share a new event at Laurel Heights this year! Introducing… Scare Hunger! This is a food drive competition between participating WRDSB secondary schools from October 16 to October 30. During this time, our school will collect non-perishable goods to be generously donated to the local food bank. Alternatively, individuals may contribute through online cash donations on the food bank’s website. We want to stress that there is no pressure to donate. We understand that everyone has their unique circumstances and we greatly appreciate any form of support. Let’s come together to make a difference in our community!
If you are interested in a cash contribution click on the link here to donate (the link is now active to contribute, but non-perishable items will be collected from Oct. 16th – Oct. 30th).
See the most needed items by the Food Bank and consider donating from this list:
- Canned fruits and vegetables
- Canned meats and fish
- Dry beans and pasta
- Hot and cold cereal
- Individually packed snacks (granola bars, apple sauce, pudding cups)
- Jam/fruit spread
- Pasta sauce
- Peanut butter
- Rice

COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS – Online Submission Forms Now Available

Students who have completed community service hours – you can now submit your information for tracking using the Google form posted to your specific “CLASS OF” Google classroom. Please read the form instructions carefully when entering your information. If you need to review what volunteer activities are eligible to help you complete your required 40 hours, please review the WRDSB COMMUNITY SERVICE MANUAL. Should you require a tracking booklet, you can download a copy here.
If you are graduating this year, please have your total hours submitted by May 1st, 2024 to allow time for data entry in guidance.

2022-2023 Yearbooks Are In!

- If you ordered a yearbook last year, it will be delivered in your homeroom classroom on Thursday.
- Should you miss Thursday’s delivery, you can pick up your yearbook in the Student Activities Council (S.A.C) Office starting Monday, October 9th.
- Students with a first first-period spare can pick up your yearbook up in the Student Activities Council (S.A.C) Office.
- 2022/23 GRADS who purchased a yearbook – you can pick yours up in the Main Office any school day from 8:20 am to 3:00 pm.
