To our Parent/Guardian Community,
This message is being sent out to all of the families in the Laurel Heights Secondary School community who are connected to Learning Services (formerly Special Education). We hope that this message finds you well. The start of the school year has passed, and we are looking forward to our upcoming Open House on Wednesday, October 19th. Student’s have now been enrolled in their classes for about a month, with IEP accommodations happening in classrooms since the beginning of the semester.
Due to the cyber incident, the WRDSB has added new, additional firewalls into the system. These firewalls are preventing systems from communicating with each other. One of the systems being impacted is S4S, the system that houses IEP’s. This means that we are unable to print/email IEPs and you will not be receiving an updated IEP for your signature and consultation by our mid-October timeframe.

Our student support models are in place, and your child’s IEP continues to be implemented. Our school already practices universal accommodations and students are being supported in their classrooms. Our learning services team continues to meet with students and teachers to support the needs of all students. The Resource room is operational, just like it was at the end of the school year in June.

If you would like to consult with us regarding your students IEP we have included the link to our Parent/Guardian IEP Consultation Form that was sent out in mid-September.
IEP Student/Parent Consultation Form 22/23
If you have any other questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out to your student’s Vice Principal or to our department.

Thank you so much for your continued partnership and support,

The Learning Services Department
