Good Day Hurricanes

As we near the end of the 2022-2023 school year we are providing information about how textbooks, musical instruments, uniforms, library books (and in some cases Chromebooks if a student is leaving LHSS and not returning to another WRDSB school) are to be returned by the end of the school year. As some of these resources are still in use by students completing their courses and final assessments, resource collection begins this week for any items no longer needed, and ends on June 27th at the completion of final assessments. In the first days of classes in the fall, students who have not resolved their unreturned or lost items owing will be referred to the office to work out a solution for their missing item including replacemnet cost for the item. VPs will work with families under financial strain. If an item is lost the student and/or parents and caregivers should approach their teacher for more information.

All RETURNING Grade 9, 10, 11, 12*  students LHSS/WRDSB (including remote learners and if doing summer school and those transferring to another WRDSB school)

  1. Keep your chromebook (you will need it next year for your WRDSB/LHSS classes and if you are doing Summer School courses)
  2. Return all other items so that students taking your seat next year will have the textbooks, library books, and instruments that you had and that they will need.

RETURN DETAILS

Please ensure all returning items have been cleaned and have your name on them (texts should have your name and year written on the inside cover, but this is not required for library books)

Return all classroom loaned items to the Classroom Teacher (or library in the case of library books) who issued them on your last day of your attendance at the school. If you need the materials until an exam/ISS day, return the items on that day (June 23-27, 2023). Ask your teacher for specific details about their items and return expectations.

If you need to drop off late items and/or can’t find a teacher during the following dates you may bring items to the main office;

                      June 23rd 8:00 am – 3 pm

                     June 26th 8:00 am – 3 pm

                     June 27th 8:00 am – 3 pm

If none of these times will work or if needing to drop off items after June 27th and before July 15th, call the main office 5198809979 to arrange a time to bring in any outstanding items as hours will vary.

Graduating/Graduated Grade 12 and 12+ students (and other not returning grade 9-12+ students leaving the WRDSB to another school system)

  1. Return your chromebook – unless you are enrolling in summer school with WRDSB. Chromebooks and their charging cords are the property of the Waterloo Region District School Board and must be returned upon graduation, or upon leaving the WRDSB. (All devices will be disabled shortly after the end of June for students no longer registered with the WRDSB beyond June 27th).

Google Accounts: Students graduating this year or who are leaving the WRDSB will have their Google Drive and email accounts closed over the summer. It’s recommended that students back up all documents and emails to their personal drive/accounts before the end of the semester. Apps such as Google Takeout can make this process easier.

  1. Return all other items so that students taking your seat next year will have the textbooks, library books, and instruments you had and that they will need.
