With the end of the 2025-26 school year just around the corner, we are recognizing the outstanding secondary students from across the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) for their incredible achievements.

WRDSB students are leaders, academic achievers, community-builders and are the heart of the schools where they learn. We are so proud of every WRDSB student for all they contributed this school year.

Liam

Liam enters into everything with creativity, enthusiasm, and a desire to learn. He is a role model for his peers and is committed to continuing to grow and learn as he moves on to college to pursue a career as a Social Service Worker.

Logan

Logan is recognized for his strong work ethic, positive character, and commitment to his future goals. He takes pride in developing new skills, and consistently demonstrates the perseverance and responsibility needed for success in the skilled trades. Logan plans to pursue a career as an electrician.


Bluevale Collegiate Institute

Amer

Amer has grown into a true leader at BCI, never relenting in pursuit of his goals. As a wrestler, Amer has proven that dedication, work ethic, and goal setting are essential to success and achievement. With his academic and co-op successes, Amer will pursue a pathway in Community Integration Through Co-operative Education.

Arman

Arman is a dedicated student who is passionate about learning and curious about the world around him. He actively seeks opportunities for growth in his pursuit of knowledge. A true creative, Arman demonstrates musical talent and showcases his artistic abilities as a competitive skater.

Christina

Christina’s patience, calm demeanour, and encouragement of others will serve her well as she advances in her chosen career path of hairstyling and aesthetics. During her time at Bluevale, she has gained confidence through her Co-op terms.


Cameron Heights Collegiate Institute

Ashish

Ashish is an exceptional student with a remarkable list of accomplishments, including serving as Co-President of DECA; presenting at the American Medical Student Association; being a finalist for Team Canada at the Science Fair; and founding ReAlign, an amblyopia diagnosis web application. Ashish will be studying Molecular and Cellular Biology.

Ellina

Ellina is recognized for her academic excellence and leadership skills. Ellina has also supported various events, including the Semi-Formal Dance, Athletic Banquet, and Prom. Additionally, she painted a mural for the Kitchener‑Waterloo Skating Club, competes nationally with Canada’s top‑ranked synchronized skating team, and also serves as a coach.

Mark

Mark has grown into a confident, empathetic leader with a passion for Manufacturing. His dedication shines in the University of Waterloo Electric Vehicle Challenge, where he evolved from a curious member into a Leader guiding his peers. Mark’s creativity, inclusivity, and drive for innovation make him an exceptional asset to the Cameron Heights community.


Eastwood Collegiate Institute

Elanor

Elanor is a well-rounded student, excelling in her many passions. In the Integrated Arts Program, she focused on Visual Arts and String Instruments. As an all-season athlete, she participated in basketball and wrestling, and she served as the captain of the rugby team for three years. Elanor was a member of the Cabinet and the Arts Council for four years. Additionally, she co-directed the Senior Art Show and was one of ECI’s co-Prime Ministers.

Robert

Robert played a key role in establishing a Powerlifting Club at the school, channeling his passion for sports to inspire his peers. He also showed kindness and compassion during his co-op placement. Graduating as an Arts Program Major, he will be remembered for his contributions as a tubist in the Concert Band.

Tyler

Tyler is an exemplary student who is well-respected by his peers and his teachers. He is an outstanding Technology learner and Eastwood’s Electric Vehicle Club lead. At the WRDSB Skills Competition for Automotive Technology, he placed second. He was also recently recognized as one of the recipients of the Past Directors’ Bursary.


Elmira District Secondary School

Beckham

Beckham is a dedicated student admired by both teachers and co-op employers for his hard work, his ability to form strong relationships and his positive sense of humour. He values the friends and social connections he has made and advises future students to live in the moment and enjoy themselves, as high school goes by very quickly.

Charlotte

Charlotte is a dedicated leader who supports her peers. During her secondary school years, she mentored swimmers, served as a Student Leadership and Engagement Ambassador, initiated a composting program at her school, and participated in promoting the Tinman Triathlon. Her teachers appreciate her curiosity and strong work ethic.

Makayla

Makayla is recognized for her strong work ethic, reliability, quiet confidence, intellectual curiosity, and impressive academic achievements. Makayla has enjoyed exploring Grade 12 University-level courses and various co-op placements, all of which will be a positive influence as she moves into the workforce.


Forest Heights Collegiate Institute

Anisha

Anisha has grown into an empathetic and inclusive student. She consistently shares gratitude, reflects, and asserts herself with confidence. Along her journey, Anisha has mastered the art of building meaningful relationships, actively embracing mentors who can support and guide her.

Thomas-Arthur

Thomas-Arthur demonstrates leadership and dedication within the skilled trades. As a peer helper, he shares his knowledge and skills with others, helping to create a supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged to grow and succeed. The accolades he received in the Specialist High Skills Major Skills Competition reflect both his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.

Yasmina

Yasmina has a remarkable gift for making every student feel valued and included. Her kindness, curiosity, and exceptional ability to foster relationships are evident in her consistent support within classrooms. Through her genuine care for others and commitment to helping those around her, she has made a lasting impact and will make an outstanding Educational Assistant.


Galt Collegiate Institute

Cooper

Cooper is a remarkable, well-rounded student who has been a quiet and steady source of support for both students and staff. His willingness to volunteer and lend a hand has made a meaningful impact in his school community.

Evelyn

Evelyn’s commitment to learning is reflected in her completion of both the French Immersion program and the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) in Arts and Culture. Evelyn is known for her compassion, resilience, and strong work ethic. She approaches challenges with determination; demonstrates genuine care for others; and contributes positively to her school community through her kindness, creativity, and ability to build meaningful relationships.

Natalie

Through her dedication and hard work, Natalie has completed both the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) in Arts and Culture and the French Immersion program. Natalie is known for her curiosity, creativity, perseverance and positive attitude, as well as her ability to build strong relationships and contribute meaningfully to her school community.


Glenview Park Secondary School

Aiden

Aiden has excelled in his technological studies. In his tech classes, he developed an interest in the work and skills of his classmates, contributing to a positive environment where everyone’s efforts are recognized and celebrated. Aiden has also performed exceptionally well during his co-op placements in Electrical Services and plans to continue his education next year to become an Industrial Electrician.

Kaz

Kaz’s presence has left its mark at Glenview. They balance academics, artistic pursuits, athletics, and social endeavours, participating in activities like Cross-Country, Swimming, and Track and Field, “speed painting” competitions and Fed-Prov. Next year, they will study Global and International Studies.

Michael

Michael has been a superb role model at Glenview Park. He is a great connector of people, helping make his classmates feel valued, and a skilled athlete. He has also been a thoughtful and substantive participant in the Black Student Union. In his next chapter, Michael plans to study Landscape Architecture.


Grand River Collegiate Institute

Grace

Grace has seamlessly bridged academic excellence with hands-on ambition. In the classroom, she pairs critical thinking with a stellar work ethic, which will serve her well as she enters the skilled trades after graduation.

Sukhmandeep (Suki)

In her time as a Renegade, Suki has been committed to school life. She is a team player, competing for both the basketball and badminton teams, as well as a Peer Tutor at GRCI. She co-founded and led the Student Sikh Association, was part of the Asian Student Union, and volunteered at this year’s Asian Student Union Heritage Conference. Suki’s curiosity, school spirit, and empathy have been appreciated by staff and students alike.

Sylara

Sylara received the Community Engagement Student Achievement Award. She is an empathetic student who consistently goes the extra mile. Sylara demonstrates her conscientiousness while volunteering in the community, and her attention to detail stood out in both the Art Club and the Cake Decorating Club.

Zoe

Zoe has been awarded the Community Engagement Student Achievement Award. She is a compassionate student who goes above and beyond to bring joy to others, spreading happiness through her laughter, dancing, and enthusiasm. Zoe has participated in various volunteering placements within the community, sung in the Special Education Choir, and showcased her creativity in the Cake Decorating Club.


Huron Heights Secondary School

Cole

Cole is a passionate and dedicated student. He made a major impact on the Technology Department at Huron Heights Secondary School. During his time at Huron, he completed a multi-credit co-op, which resulted in a role at the company where he will begin his Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship.

Kayla

Kayla showcases leadership, dedication, and community spirit, while also demonstrating initiative, supporting peers and truly embodying what it means to be a Husky. She advocated for others and has cared deeply about her academics. In her next chapter, Kayla will be attending university to study Psychology.

Sarah

Sarah is involved in many aspects of student life, whether through athletics or leadership, and has left a lasting impression on the school. She encourages her peers and is a positive role model to all students. Sarah will be continuing her journey in the workplace, where she has many opportunities to continue making an impact on those around her.


Jacob Hespeler Secondary School

Eshal

A dedicated leader, Eshal is heading to university to study Health Sciences to pursue a career in medicine. She created inclusive safe spaces at Jacob Hespler Secondary School. As Co-President, she championed community well-being; organized therapy dog visits; led the Muslim Student Association; founded Girls in STEM; supported the School Council; and partnered with the city on newcomer integration and a Youth Multicultural Festival.

Paden

Paden is an outstanding culinary student who has completed seven culinary classes and was honoured with the Outstanding Hospitality and Tourism Specialist High Skills Major Student award. As a peer mentor, he actively volunteers to serve school lunches and provides meals to those in need through Missions to the Margins. In his next chapter, he will gain valuable industry experience as he aspires to attend a culinary program in the future.

Tsana

Tsana was an active member of our Black Student Union throughout secondary school. She enjoyed attending and hosting events, as well as the friendships she developed along the way. During her co-op placement, Tsana discovered her passion for hairstyling. This experience allowed her to practice hands-on techniques and gain a deeper understanding of the career.


Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate Institute and Vocational School

Dimarco

Dimarco has spent his time at Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate Institute and Vocational School growing into a capable, focused, conscientious, and valued member of the community. He has been actively involved in sports, school events, and the African Heritage Club. Well respected by staff and peers, Dimarco is known for his leadership, positive attitude, and commitment to others. Following a successful co-op placement, he will be pursuing a career in the Navy.

Karen

Karen is a dedicated student whose leadership has made a positive impact. She served as Co-President of Law Club and was actively involved in ROAM Club, Math Club, Wellness Team, Badminton Team, Table Tennis Club, Choir, and the Legally Blonde musical. Karen will be attending university for Health Sciences, where she will continue to inspire others.

Mario

Mario has been an active member of the community through their involvement in soccer and their outstanding participation in co-op. During their electrician placement, they demonstrated exceptional professionalism, initiative, and technical skill. Their strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to learning have prepared for a career as an electrician.


Laurel Heights Secondary School

Carter

Carter is a creative, confident, and empathetic leader whose contributions have enhanced every corner of the school community. Through his outstanding technical support for Drama, Dance, Music, SAC, Alternative Continuum of Education, athletics, and all school events, he helps others shine. After graduation, he will pursue Sound Engineering.

Kaleb

Kaleb embodies confidence, curiosity, and a commitment to bettering the community. As a dedicated volunteer with Food4Kids and an active member of the school cross-country and track teams, he shows commitment and heart. Kaleb builds inclusive relationships throughout the school.

Sia

Sia demonstrates inclusiveness and a strong commitment to creating accessible spaces and experiences for students. As a leader of the Best Buddy program, Sia encouraged other students to be caring, involved citizens. Her thoughtfulness and compassion towards all students is exemplary. She will have an impact as she studies Health Sciences next year.


Preston High School

Kason

Kason is an enthusiastic peer helper and student in class, and also helps manage sports teams including Slo Pitch, Football and Rugby, forming friendships with team members. He is a valued member of the Cambridge Ice Hounds, and has gained valuable work experience during his time at Preston High School. He plans to continue to gain workplace experience after graduation.

Neijitan

Neijitan is a dynamic scholar and valued member of his community. His extensive involvement in extracurricular activities, including the Athletic and Student Activity Councils, the Fed Prov Club, and the Improv Team, showcases his dedication, creativity, and leadership skills. In addition to these roles, he has actively participated in STEM competitions and sports teams. This fall, Neijitan will be pursuing a university degree in Management and Organizational Studies.

Nicholas

Nicholas is an exemplary student and future Skilled Trades Apprentice. His outstanding work ethic in class and his Co-op placements have earned him 1st place in Welding and 2nd in Machining at the 2026 Skills Competitions. He was also an active member of the football team and the school band, showing his dedication and drive. Nicholas will begin a CNC Machining apprenticeship upon graduation.


Southwood Secondary School

Brody

A leader and hard worker, Brody competed in varsity hockey as captain, alongside soccer, slo-pitch, volleyball, badminton, and ultimate frisbee during his high school career. He approaches every challenge as an opportunity to learn and grow, a mindset that has positioned him for success as he begins his electrical apprenticeship.

Maddie

Maddie is recognized for her positive energy and friendly demeanor. Her keen interest in the culinary arts has allowed her to contribute to school life by preparing food for special events. Maddie has earned her Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) in Hospitality and Tourism. This fall, she will enter the workforce, utilizing her strong customer service skills and hospitality knowledge.

Stas

Driven by curiosity and leadership, Stas co-founded the Science Club and has been actively involved in the Prom Committee, Environment Club, Fed-Prov, and Model United Nations. Beyond school, he has dedicated five years to training in karate. This fall, Stas will pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering.


Waterloo Collegiate Institute

Elizabeth

Known for her positive energy and compassionate nature, Elizabeth has been an incredible leader and active participant in Special Olympics events and school life. This year, she demonstrated her strong work ethic at two off-site work placements. As a dedicated student-athlete, Elizabeth excelled on both the track and swim teams, qualifying as a para-competitor for OFSAA. She exemplifies what it means to be a lifelong learner and a kind, caring student.

Jackson

Jackson is a hardworking student who completed a four-credit co-op placement. Beyond his impressive commitment to the skilled trades, he has been a great member of our school community as an active member of both the leadership class and the hockey team. Bringing this strong work ethic and collaborative spirit into his career, Jackson will be pursuing a plumbing apprenticeship.

Tom

Tom’s care and positivity have distinguished him as an incredible member of the leadership program. He is also a truly outstanding three-season athlete and a team captain who inspires everyone around him with his work ethic on and off the field. Furthermore, his dedication shines just as brightly in the classroom, where his hard work perfectly aligns with his ambitious goals of pursuing a future in Kinesiology.


Waterloo-Oxford District Secondary School

Isaiah

Isaiah excels in all technology classes, demonstrating hard work and patience. He takes the time to master machinery and shows exceptional care in his projects. Next year, he’ll serve as an Assistant Maintenance Director before eventually entering the trades.

Sarina

Sarina exemplifies the teaching spirit, standing out for her incredible enthusiasm for learning. She engages with classmates in a kind, passionate way and shows deep empathy through Best Buddies.

Van

Van is a standout student leader defined by his work ethic, humility, and dedication to excellence. An analytical thinker, he lifts his school community through kindness and quiet leadership. Beyond the classroom, Van has excelled at the provincial level in skilled trades, earning a bronze medal. Graduating with apprenticeship offers already in hand, he is a compassionate role model poised for an exceptional career.
