With many of our students settled into their school daily routines, it’s time for a reminder about Laurel Heights’ updated “AWAY FOR THE DAY” mobile device policy…
- To help establish a distraction free learning environment, cell phones and other mobile devices are to be powered off/silenced and out of sight during all class periods (unless permitted for specific classroom purposes by your teacher).
- This includes classrooms, hallways, pods, bathrooms, foyers and stairwells.
- Phones may be used before the first bell, during lunch and after the final bell at the end of the day.
- Students on spare periods are permitted to use mobile devices in the library or cafeteria only.
Be aware that LHSS staff may direct students to the main office who are seen using mobile devices during “away for the day” times/areas. Your phone/device will be stored in a secure area in the office until the end of the school day and can be picked up after 2:30pm.
Additionally, as per WRDSB policy, smart glasses (such as Meta glasses) are not permitted for use at school at any time.
