Certifications & Sector-Specific Training:

Students in the Co-operative Education and Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) programs have the opportunity to complete a variety of certifications and training modules. These experiences are designed to support workplace readiness, enhance safety awareness, and build sector-specific skills that align with students’ interests and future pathways. Students can access training modules through PathPort: Pathways Training Portal available in Brightspace.

Work Safety Training

Mandatory for Co-Op and SHSM

 

Workplace Violence and Harassment Awareness

Introduces how to recognize, prevent, and report workplace violence and harassment, and outlines employee rights and responsibilities.

 

Accessibility Awareness

Builds understanding of accessibility needs and teaches how to create inclusive, respectful environments for people of all abilities.

 

WHMIS for Workers

Covers how to safely handle hazardous materials, including reading labels, understanding Safety Data Sheets, and using proper protective measures.

 

Health & Safety at Work

Provides an overview of workplace safety basics, including identifying hazards, understanding rights and responsibilities, and knowing how to stay safe on the job.

 

SHSM Compulsory Training:

Teaches how to respond to medical emergencies, including performing CPR and providing basic first aid until help arrives.
