Global Climate Strike – Friday, Sept. 27

Inspired by climate activist Greta Thunberg, the Global #ClimateStrike is the second of two strikes planned to coincide with the UN Emergency Climate Summit.  SJAM and the WRDSB support those students who wish to participate in the local climate strike.

Students under the age of 18 will require parental permission to leave class to join the climate strike event. Should parents wish to grant permission for students to participate, please call and inform school attendance.

Students wanting to support this important initiative without missing class – here are some options to consider:

  • Choosing active transportation options for getting to and from school
  • Switch to a reusable water bottle
  • Coordinate a garbage pick-up or clean-up day
  • Use electricity and water-saving measures in the school that day
  • Write to your local politician to advocate for the climate
  • Post about your support on social media. Tell the world why this matters. Make sure to tag #ClimateStrike and @350 for your post to be shared by global organizers, as well @wrdsb so that we can celebrate the day together
