Take Our Kids to Work Day – November 2nd

The Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) is pleased to encourage grade 9 student participation on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 in Take Our Kids to Work 2022: You Belong Here!

Take Our Kids to Work Day (TOKTW) has a long history of being a successful opportunity for students to gain real world experience in the workplace. TOKTW also  connects parents/caregivers and their grade 9 students in a day full of fun and career exploration.

This year, the WRDSB is supporting TOKTW in partnership with a new sponsor, Students Commission of Canada (SCC). As part of the transition of this initiative to the SCC, the resources at the Learning Partnership website have been updated. Please note that although the resources mention virtual events, at this time there are no virtual events planned for November 2, 2022. The SCC has indicated that in the near future there may be additional information regarding their involvement, which may or may not include virtual events.

Although TOKTW is designed for grade 9 students, secondary schools may choose to offer this opportunity to students in other grades.

Please find links to the various SCC/Learning Partnership resources for educators, parents/caregivers and workplaces to support the day.

Educators are encouraged to utilize the pre-activities (pages 5 to 14) and the post reflective-activities (pages 18 and 19) to support students’ engagement in the day.

More information please visit https://www.thelearningpartnership.ca/take-our-kids-to-work or contact the SCC with questions regarding the resources.
