Dear SJAM Students and Parents/Guardians

SJAM, in partnership with Communitech, Velocity Garage, Laurier LaunchPad, UW Stratford School of Design and Vidyard, is proud to announce the continuation and expansion of the Highlander Innovation Program for the 2020 – 2021 school year. Next year we will be offering iLab 1.0 for grade 11’s and iLab 2.0 for grade 12’s.

Please join us this Tuesday, March 3 from 7- 8 pm at SJAM for the Highlander Innovation Lab Information Night.

At this event, Highlander Innovation Lab staff will provide more details on the program, the application process, and the unique 2 credit package.

Grade 11 and 12 students accepted into this new and innovative program will have the opportunity to pursue their passions in an open and creative space. Working in innovation teams and supported by community mentors, students will progress through a traditional start-up incubator program culminating with a pitch to community partners for the chance to intern at Laurier LaunchPad. Our four-phase incubator program was developed specifically for high school innovators and reflects the best practices of incubators in our community.

Students enrolled in the Highlander Innovation Lab will earn a minimum of 2 credits (ENGLISH + Interdisciplinary Studies) while gaining valuable real-life entrepreneurial, design thinking and workplace skills that will prepare them for a future in post-secondary education and the changing workplace of the 21st century.

Please also visit the Highlander Innovation Lab Website for more details on the program. If you have any questions please email sandy_millar@wrdsb.ca
