In an attempt to help our grade 9 students become prepared for learning upon the commencement of courses on September 8th, we have decided to provide multiple optional early opportunities for grade 9 students to pick up their Chromebooks, regardless of which cohort they are in.

First (Optional) Early Chromebook Pickup Opportunity:

On Wednesday, September 2nd, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm students and/or their guardians may elect to pick up their Chromebook device before the commencement of classes on Sept. 8. Contactless Chromebook distribution will occur just outside the cafeteria doors at the corner of Laurelwood Drive and Erbsville Road. Drive-by curbside pickup is not available and parents are asked to park in the rear lot for student and community safety reasons.

Any students who are unable to take advantage of this optional early pickup on September 2nd will receive their device on the first day of their cohorts’ physical attendance date (which will be either Sept 8th or Sept 10th for our in-class attending cohorts or not at all for the distance learning students) or they can take advantage of the following second and third opportunities to get their device

Second and Third Optional Early Chromebook Pickup Opportunities:

Can’t make Sept 2nd? Can’t wait until Sept 8 or 10th? That’s okay. If a student’s cohort is not scheduled to attend class on September 8th, or if they are enrolled in full distance learning, they are strongly encouraged to come on our second or third optional opportunity dates, which are on the afternoons of September 8th and 9th from 1:30 to 2:30 just outside the cafeteria doors at the corner of Laurelwood Drive and Erbsville Road. Drive-by curbside pickup is not available.

What do I need to bring?

Regardless of the date students/parents/guardians come for their Chromebook, all students need to have a parent or guardian complete the 1:1 Chromebook Agreement before receiving their device. Parent/Guardians/Students are to be prepared to show a print or digital confirmation that the form has been completed using the response email that will go to their email account upon completion of the survey..

The location of all Chromebook distributions will be just outside the cafeteria doors at the corner of Laurelwood Drive and Erbsville Road. Do not let students out or pickup students off of these very busy roads. Parking will be allowed in the rear lot of the school (off Creekside Drive).  Please dress for the weather, wear a mask, line up in a socially distanced manner and follow all signage and directions of staff. There will be no access to the building for washroom use or any other reason.

Thank you,

SJAM Administration
