Instructional Support Days: Nov. 9 & 10

We will once again be utilizing Instructional Support Days at the midpoint of each semester this year.   These days, listed on our Ministry-approved calendar, are an opportunity for students and teachers to provide time and space to focus on a variety of assessment and evaluation methods that will aid students in consolidating learning and working towards demonstration of the overall expectations.

Instructional Support Days

SEMESTER 1 Wed.,  Nov. 9 Thurs., Nov. 10
Morning Block Period 1 Period 1
Period 2 Period 2
LUNCH
Afternoon Block Period 3 Period 3
Period 4 Period 4

We have found from our experience that these days can be tremendously beneficial to our students’ well-being and provide an opportunity for catch up and deeper understanding on the topics covered in class.  Possible learning opportunities could include assessments (which could require in-person attendance), performances, conferences, completion of assignments, meeting with collaborative groups, as determined by each course teacher.  Classroom teachers work with their students at credit rescue assignment completion, and/or offer additional opportunities for students to demonstrate a skill or overall curriculum expectation that has been missed or requires further demonstration/help with.

  • Students will be required to attend remotely or in-person, depending on the needs of the student.  Teachers will communicate with their students the expectation/schedule  for those days in advance.   Though many students may be working from home, students will be marked “present” for attendance purposes if they have engaged with the teacher (e.g. conferencing/feedback sessions; participation in the virtual classroom; submitting owed work; etc.).
  • ACE students will attend school with regular programming and following regular attendance procedures
  • Transportation will run at regular times
