Take Our Kids to Work Day – November 5th, 2025
Posted October 16, 2025
The Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) is pleased to encourage Grade 9 student participation on
Wednesday, November 5, 2025 in Take Our Kids to Work 2025!
Take Our Kids to Work Day (TOKTWD) is a unique experiential learning opportunity for Grade 9 students to explore “a day in the life” of a profession or workplace. The goal is to help students make meaningful connections between classroom learning and the world of work, as they begin to consider future career pathways.
Grade 9 students may spend the day job shadowing in the workplace of a parent, caregiver, relative, family friend, or colleague. This long-standing initiative has proven to be a valuable way for students to gain real-world experience and insight into various careers.
DOWNLOAD THE PERMISSION FORM HERE! Print copies also available in the main office.
If a student chooses not to participate in TOKTWD, they are expected to attend school and follow their regular class schedule.
Another way to engage in TOKTWD is through the virtual and in-person resources provided by The Students Commission of Canada (SSC 2025). In partnership with WRDSB, SSC is offering resource guides to support educators, parents, families, caregivers, and employers in delivering meaningful TODTWD programming.
These resources (available in both English and French) include:
- Planning tools
- Sample agendas
- Interactive activities
To access these resources, students and staff must register.
Visit the SSC 2025 website and scroll to the bottom of the page to complete the registration form.
Additional Resources
Students can also explore career planning resources through myBlueprint: TOKTWD myBlueprint Resource.
